UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is offering a full-time internship with the Protection Unit
under the Complementary Pathways at UNHCR Moldova

Organizational context
Since the war in Ukraine began on 24 February, over 640,000 people have left the country
and arrived in the Republic of Moldova (hereinafter “Moldova”). While many have since moved
onwards into the European Union, over 93,000 refugees remain in Moldova today. In close
cooperation with the Government, UNHCR helps coordinate a multi-sectoral humanitarian
response to support these refugees as well as the communities that host them.
UNHCR Moldova in Chisinau is looking for an intern to join our team and be part of this
lifesaving refugee response. The internship will be based in the Protection Unit, with the
Complementary Pathways team, gaining hands-on experience working for an international
organization during an emergency.
The position
The intern will be fully engaged with the Complementary Pathway teams to support outreach and
info-sharing about the EU+ Air Transfer program. This program facilitates the transfer of the
most vulnerable refugees from Moldova to the EU and affiliated countries. It is not only a valuable
protection mechanism for refugees but also a form of responsibility-sharing between the EU+
and Moldova for the refugee response.

In order to be considered for an internship, candidates must meet the following eligibility
criteria:
NOTE: An individual whose father, mother, son, daughter, brother, or sister is a staff
member of UNHCR, including a Temporary Appointment holder or a member of the Affiliate
The workforce is not eligible for an internship.
Desirable qualifications and skills
Conditions
It is a full-time role with working hours starting from 9.00 am to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday (40
hours per week) with flexibility approved by the supervisor. The successful candidate will be
assigned to support the team in Chisinau.
Allowance: Interns who do not receive financial support from an outside party will receive an
allowance to partially help to cover the cost of food, local transportation, and living expenses.
