Overview
A mobile telecommunications company founded in 1983 in Kuwait as MTC (Mobile Telecommunications Company), and later rebranded as Zain in 2007. Zain has a commercial presence in eight countries across the Middle East and Africa with 45.3 million active customers as of 30 September, 2017. Zain operates in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, in addition to operations in Morocco, Sudan and South Sudan. The Vice Chairman and Group CEO is Bader Nasser Al–Kharafi, who was appointed in March 2017.
Zain Group & Zain Kuwait: Bader AlKharafi participated in the UNHCR- MENA Sustainability Board in March 2018. Meanwhile, Chief Sustainability Officer, joined a half day mission to Jordan’s urban areas, where Syrian refugees reside. UNHCR and Zain group signed a financial assistance agreement to support Cash Assistance program for Syrian and non-Syrian refugees in Jordan adding to that Zain Kuwait has done various advocate initiatives supporting UNHCR activities by providing them their platform such as sending free SMS’s to their database whenever UNHCR has a fundraising campaign & coordinating with UNHCR key events in world refugee day & global campaigns.
