UNHCR held a roundtable event aimed at fostering greater collaboration between the private sector and refugee employment efforts.
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour, the Social Security Corporation, and the Jordan Investors Association, held a roundtable event on Thursday 24 August 2023, aimed at fostering greater collaboration between the private sector and refugee employment efforts. This event brings together key stakeholders to discuss and address challenges related to the employment of Syrian refugees in Jordan’s private sector, and enhance refugees’ self-reliance and economic empowerment.
Attendees of this initiative include public institutions (such as the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, and the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions), representatives from the donor community (such as the US Department of State Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration, the European Union, and Japan International Cooperation Agency), partner organizations (such as the World Bank, CARE, the Norwegian Refugee Council, and the Jordan River Foundation), and representatives from the private sector and the local industry.
UNHCR commends the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Labour, Social Security Corporation, and the Jordan Investors Association in making this event possible. Their commitment to addressing these issues exemplifies the dedication to creating a more inclusive and sustainable future for both refugees and the host community.
