UNHCR Representative in Iran, Sivanka Dhanapala, met with the Ambassador of Japan, Hiroyasu Kobayashi on 8 June 2017 to express UNHCR’s deep appreciation for the ongoing support from the Government and People of Japan in assisting refugees in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
During the meeting, the Representative submitted and presented UNHCR’s Final Report on 2016 Contributions earmarked for Iran Operation by the Government of Japan, totalling USD 3,000,000. Progress on the implementation of activities in 2017 was also further discussed.
The Ambassador presented his gratitude for the report which provided measured results of the impactful interventions made possible through support by the Government of Japan, as aligned with the targeted purpose of the contributions.
