In Cartagena, UNHCR organised an exhibition of images and testimonies of Colombian internally displaced persons and refugees. Titled "Arrancados de Raíz", it was held at the Convention Centre during the World Social Forum, which took place from June 16-20. Photographs and stories were collected by UNHCR staff who travelled within Colombia and also to Ecuador, Panama and Venezuela.

Bogota marked the day with performances by MAMA-U (a group of displaced youth who performed dances and songs from the Chocó region) and the Invincible Invisibles, a group of street musicians (some of them displaced Colombians).
