World Refugee Day 2003 National Activity Plan: New Zealand

Kids play in a neighbourhood populated mostly by Iraqi refugees. Because refugees are not allowed to work in Syria, children often must take informal jobs to help support their families.

UNHCR will provide local NGOs and community organisations with information and support for their locally organised celebrations. The refugee agency will also collaborate with the government and the NGO, Refugee and Migrant Services, to celebrate World Refugee Day with an event at the Parliament House.
