Imagine how it feels to lose your loved ones in conflicts and wars. And you have to flee your country to seek for safety, while carrying young children.
Before you can finally have a permanent home, you have to live in foreign countries like Indonesia for many years, with limitations. Unable to work, while basic needs are pressing. Have the ability to study, but education opportunities are limited due to previous unfinished schools. Other challenges ahead await.
This is a picture of the many lives of refugee families in Indonesia. At the end of March 2020, there are some 13,550 refugees hosted in Indonesia and registered with UNHCR. Many of them come from Afghanistan, Somalia and Myanmar (Rohingya refugees). They live in several cities in Indonesia like Jakarta, Medan, Tanjung Pinang, Pekanbaru, Makassar and Kupang.
Ramadan is supposed to be a month full of blessings. This year, we celebrate Ramadan in difficult times, while we face Corona virus, that limits our social activities and worshiping activities. For us, this change is difficult to bear, for refugees the challenges they have to endure are heavier that the years before.
Let us share a little happiness to refugees, so they are able to go through the month of Ramadan in peace, knowing that people do care about them.
For a donation amounting:
Rp. 75,000 you will help to provide meals for 3 refugees.
Rp. 1,235,000, you will support one vulnerable head of refugee family for one month.
By donating to refugees, you also give vital contributions to the Indonesian communities and local economy from food supplies and shelters to the refugees.
With UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, let’s join forces to bring happiness to our brothers and sisters in this Ramadan.
