UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, in Greece in cooperation with the Youth Awareness Committee[1], is pleased to announce the results of “We live Together”, the 21st National Student Contest on refugees, organized for the school year 2017-2018.
The 21st National Student Contest called on students across Greece to share ideas and experiences on living in a world that brings “Together” refugees and local communities – at school, in the neighborhood, at work, at university, in every new beginning.
More than a thousand students, including refugee children, participated in this year’s contest with the valuable support of their teachers. In 30 cities, from Crete to Alexandroupoli and from Samos to Preveza, in 130 primary and secondary schools, including evening schools, schools for children with disabilities, and intercultural schools, children worked together or individually on texts, posters, comics, sketches, videos and photographs. Among the participations, awards were given to 63 students from various parts of Greece who submitted drawings, wrote poems and created powerful messages for a world that brings all children, beyond origin, religion, disability or trauma, to “Live Together”.
Members of the Youth Awareness Committee evaluated the entries based on their expertise. Beyond the awards, many entries were distinguished for their originality and quality, while special entries included noteworthy works by adult students attending classes of second chance.
The committee would like to thank all the students and schools which honoured the contest with their works, notable for their talent, commitment and originality.
All awarded entries and the analytical results of the contest are hosted here.
