World Refugee Day 2004 National Activity Plan: Jordan

UNHCR will organise a reception with speeches by government officials and UNHCR representatives. An urban refugee band will perform at the reception. A photo and art exhibition by refugee artists from Ruweished and No Man's Land camps will take place.

To raise awareness among media and the public at large, a press conference will be held and interviews will be given on radio and TV. A UNHCR film, "A place called home", will also be shown.

Outdoor events will take place in Ruweished and in No Man's Land camps: refugees will perform music and dance, as well as a theatre play, "A place like home". An exhibition of drawings and photos by refugees will also be set up in the camps.

Quick snap disposable cameras will be distributed to refugee children who will take photos and write captions. The best photos will be on display in Amman. Children will also be given World Refugee Day T-shirts.
