Prior to her current appointment, Dr. Hamdan worked at UNHCR in a number of different posts and positions in Geneva, Cairo, Beirut, Algeria, Baghdad and Amman as a consultant and legal officer, serving refugees and persons of concern.
Previously, Dr. Hamdan was a lecturer and senior consultant at the American University of Beirut.
Dr. Hamdan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Studies and Public Administration from the American University of Beirut. She received her Master of Arts in International Conflict Analysis and Doctorate degree in International Relations specializing in Refugee Studies from the University of Kent, Canterbury.
