In a world filled with challenges—inequality, global warming, injustice—we all carry our baggage. But where some feel a burden, others discover their strength and find inspiration to take action. © UNV
On this International Volunteer Day, we at UNHCR Cyprus extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who volunteer their time and skills in assisting refugees and asylum-seekers across the island. These include non-governmental and civil society organisations; charities; community-led groups; associations and dedicated individuals. Their kindness and commitment ensure that many refugees and asylum-seekers, including vulnerable persons are assisted. They play a pivotal role in alleviating multi-faceted challenges, from ensuring access to food and dignified shelter, to providing psychosocial support. It is with the commitment of all these volunteers that the lives of so many refugees and asylum-seekers are improved every day.
A special *Thank You* goes out to our refugee volunteers who have chosen to be part of the UNHCR Refugee Outreach Volunteer Programme. Since 2018, these exceptional individuals have played a crucial role as supporting members of the refugee communities in Cyprus, and UNHCR’s advocacy work. Inspired by the kindness and assistance they received from NGOs and volunteers during their own challenging times, our refugee volunteers selflessly extend their help to others in need.
Thank you all for your continued commitment to helping others.
