In a world where one in every 113 people have been forced to flee their homes because of war or persecution it’s vital we demonstrate to world leaders the global public stands #WithRefugees and that concrete solutions must be found to refugee crises.
UNHCR’s #WithRefugees Campaign and petition aims to do just that – channel public support and ask for just, humane and innovative solutions for refugees the world over. On June 20, World Refugee Day we honor the strength, resilience and courage of refugees.
When faced with losing their homes, their work, and sometimes their families – refugees don’t give up – they find a way to start again. Eager to belong- they reach out to their new neighbors, bring smiles, laughter and new opportunities. In fact, bringing refugee and local communities together often brings solutions instead of problems.
The UNHCR Country Office in Cyprus and partners will be marking this year’s World Refugee Day with a series of dedicated events and activities which will kick off on Monday 12 June and continue through to Friday 23 June in Nicosia and Larnaca.
Join us and spread the word. Add your name to the #WithRefugees petition to send a clear message to governments that they must act with solidarity and shared responsibility. Now more than ever, we need to stand #WithRefugees.
