Alexander O’Riordan

Alexander O’Riordan is a policy dialogue, development effectiveness and political economy consultant. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics focusing on the Political Economy of Donor Allocations of Aid and has over two decades experience advising and supporting the EU, UK’s FCDO USAID and UN systems as well as having worked as an advisor on policy dialogue and development effectiveness to ministries of finance (or their equivalent) in Kenya, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, Lao PDR and others.
His research speciality is mapping power systems and how they shape developmental policy planning with the goal being to design influence strategies to change them.
Alex is also associate faculty at Royal Roads’ School of Human Security and Peacebuilding, teaches and supervises graduate students.
