Liberia: UNHCR worker released

Briefing notes

Liberia: UNHCR worker released

23 January 2001

UNHCR radio operator Joesph Loua is expected to arrive in Conakry from the Liberian capital, Monrovia, later today. The 51-year-old father of five was brought to Monrovia on Monday after he was found him in a remote area of Liberia 46 days after he had been abducted by gunmen from his native Guéckédou in southern Guinea. He is reportedly suffering from malaria and is generally weak. He will receive medical attention as soon as he arrives in Conakry.
