World Refugee Day 2007 National Activities: Uganda

The major event took place in Kampala with an exhibition of photographs taken by refugee children under a joint project between the International Medical Corps and National Geographic. It was shown simultaneously in London, Washington and the Uganda National Museum in Kampala. The refugee children who took the pictures live in a settlement in Uganda; two were invited to the opening of the exhibit. Around 200 people (donors, media, NGOs, UN sister agencies) were invited to the main celebrations.
An internet link was established between refugee children in a Uganda camp and schoolchildren in Spain as part of the ninemillion.org campaign.
