World Refugee Day 2004 National Activity Plan: Mexico

UNHCR will organise the second World Refugee Day Festival in the Refugee Park in Mexico City with musical performances, art, craft and food, as well as educational activities for children.

A poster-drawing contest was organised for young students. The winning drawing was selected by a group of refugees currently living in Mexico, and it will be used as the World Refugee Day Festival's official poster.

UNHCR will organise cultural activities in collaboration with other institutions.

To commemorate the World Refugee Day, UNHCR field office in Tapachula (southern border with Guatemala) and other governmental institutions and international organizations will co-organise a seminar titled, "The International Protection of Persons and the International Law". This seminar will be addressed to university students and will take place in San Cristóbal de las Casas at the National Autonomous University of Chiapas on 17 and 18 June.
