World Refugee Day 2004 National Activity Plan: Ukraine

UNHCR will organise World Refugee Day events in Odessa, Lviv, Kharkiv, Lughansk and Kyiv. These events will include cultural performances with the participation of local artists and refugees, a handicraft fair, a refugee and local children's art exhibition, sport competitions and press conferences.

The World Refugee Day spot and other video materials will be broadcast during the week before 20 June on regional TV channels.

In Kyiv, an awareness event, "World Refugee Day on Kreschatik", will take place during 19 June. A street theatre performance on persecution and escape will unfold on the main street, followed by a photo exhibition titled "Beyond Borders", information booths of UNHCR and partner NGOs, and a fair of handicraft by refugee women on the premises of the National Music Academy.
