The summer has come to an end, but the sweet memories of the holidays spent with good friends at TUMO Center for Creative Technologies, will remain for a long-long time with forcibly displaced young people.
Anna-Maria, Sandy, Tatev, Vahe, Shahane, Dannie, Vanessa, and many other forcibly displaced young people benefited from the wonderful TUMO Center for Creative Technologies summer camps for children and youth from different countries, organized in Yerevan and Dilijan this year.
The last day of the TUMO Dilijan camp left behind unforgettable memories that will always stay with the campers. The guitar master-class and concert by Anna-Maria from Syria, a young musician and song-writer, made the night of the youth. The group was in their element; they were chanting their favourite songs, dancing, learning all about the guitar, guessing the tune of popular songs, trying to remember the song authors, and the lyrics. Cheer and music had filled the place – the beautiful TUMO Center terrace under Dilijan’s beautiful sky. The youths were enjoying the cosy ambience, celebrating the summer, TUMO camp, new friendships and the power of music.
“I had the time of my life spending such an awesome music event with these amazing young people,” Anna-Maria exclaimed, receiving a burst of applause from her thankful audience. “This was my first master-class and concert, and I was thrilled to have TUMO campers as audience,” Anna-Maria added with excitement, trying to hide her tears of happiness. It was so hard to say good-bye… nonetheless, many of the youth had become her “forever friends”, as she noted, and “could not wait to see each other again.”
TUMO is a truly unique, a remarkable Center. It’s the beloved place for the children and youth, and the cradle of education, personal and professional growth for many-many of them. It’s also a safe and friendly space for refugee youth to feel wanted and included, and for new friendships among local, refugee and international youth.
Thank you, TUMO, for standing #WithRefugees, and the partnership with UNHCR Armenia we highly value and cherish.
