Ms. Anna-Carin Öst is the Representative of the UNHCR Representation in Yerevan, Armenia as of 15 August 2018.
Prior to this, she was serving as UNHCR Representative to UNHCR in Poland from June 2013 – July 2018.
Ms. Öst joined UNHCR in 1996, initially working as an Associate Field Officer in Tanzania. Since 1997 she has worked in a range of field duty stations in Europe (Turkey, Yugoslavia), Asia (Pakistan, Thailand) and the middle-east (Syria) mainly in the field of finding protection and solutions for refugees (Resettlement, Protection and Repatriation). She has also served in regional functions at the Division of International Protection at UNHCR Headquarters in Geneva 2005-2011.
Before joining UNHCR, Ms. Öst interned with the Centre for Human Rights in Switzerland and worked on various research projects at the Institute for Human Rights, Åbo Akademi University in Åbo, Finland in the fields of Citizenship/Statelessness and Election Monitoring. She has also carried out brief consultancies for the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ms. Öst has a Master of Arts in Political Science and Public International Law from the Åbo Akademi University, Finland. She speaks Swedish, English and Finnish.
