In response to COVID-19 emergency, urgent humanitarian support is regularly provided to refugees, asylum-seekers and displaced families in Armenia.
UNHCR Armenia and its implementing partners – Mission Armenia NGO, Armenian Red Cross Society, KASA Swiss Humanitarian Foundation, Children’s Support Centre of the Fund for Armenian Relief and Human Rights Defender’s Office in Armenia – ensure that no displaced person in Armenia is left behind in these difficult days of fighting against coronavirus.
In response to COVID-19 emergency, urgent humanitarian support is regularly provided to refugees, asylum-seekers and displaced families in Armenia.
By working in partnership and coordination with state and local authorities, UNHCR partners have distributed food packages and hygienic items to some 250 vulnerable families, among them children, elderly and persons with disabilities.
Parallel to hot line services, social and health care services, medication and psychological support, UNHCR and partners have outreached some 2000 persons to ensure awareness-raising on measures to prevent coronavirus, current movement restrictions, relevant state benefits, and educational platforms, as well as Armenian and Russian language online courses and interactive club activities for some 40 asylum-seekers and refugees.
