There are 27 refugee camps and a couple of reception centres across the country and all of them are organizing different activities to commemorate the day with the active participation of refugees and their host communities.
Several camps have already started some activities, including tree planting, mass camp cleaning and sports competitions.
In the context of the CRRF, all WRD activities involve the active participation of the refugee-hosting communities alongside the refugees.
Some of the activities that are common to most of the camps are: friendly artistic and sports competitions among refugees themselves and between refugees and hosting communities; cleaning the environment; tree planting; talent show; panel discussions on issues of interest for refugees and host communities and many more.
In the Tigray Region where the majority of Eritrean refugees are hosted, a world refugee day event is for the first time organized in the Zonal capital Shire with the aim to create awareness on the CRRF process. The main target audience are the Ethiopian communities in the area. Academics from the nearby Mekele University are scheduled to make a presentation on the dangers of onward movement which is increasingly affecting Eritrean refugees.
CRRF is the main message conveyed in all events across the country to which the local media are invited.
