Fatima is from Aleppo and when the fighting reached her neighbourhood the family spent 4 days under bombarbment before fleeing to Latakia. Fatima says, "We left a big house and we came to live in one room. Our house now is half destroyed and everything has been stolen. I hope Syria can be safe again and we can go back home. If I was told I could go now I'd leave immediately." The Sports City complex covers a large area and includes Latakia stadium. It is home to over 3000 internally displaced persons who fled the conflict, mostly from Aleppo and Idlib province. UNHCR is providing humanitarian aid with core relief items, protection services, health, and psycho-social support. There are currently 6.6 million people displaced inside Syria and 350,000 of those are in the Latakia Governorate. UNHCR and its partners are working to bring assistance to as many as many as they can. ; A sports complex in has been turned in a camp for internally displaced persons, in the coastal city of Latakia.
