Insecurity, violence and disasters in the Democratic Republic of the Congo have displaced an estimated 5 million people between 2017 and 2019. Hundreds of thousands more have fled to neighbouring countries, as worsening violence destroys lives and livelihoods across the country.

Rohingya refugees fled violence in Myanmar at a staggering rate in 2017 – and the numbers keep growing. At the peak of the crisis, thousands were crossing into Bangladesh daily. They arrived exhausted, hungry and sick – in need of international protection and humanitarian assistance.

Since 2013, brutal conflict in South Sudan has claimed thousands of lives and driven millions of people from their homes. While many remain displaced inside the country, more than two million have fled to neighbouring countries in a desperate bid to reach safety.

After over a decade of crisis, life is harder than ever for displaced Syrians. Millions of Syrians have been forced to flee their homes since 2011, seeking safety as refugees in Lebanon, Turkey, Jordan and beyond, or displaced inside Syria. As the crisis continues, hope is fading.
In response to the massive humanitarian crisis caused by the ongoing war in Ukraine, UNHCR is working with national authorities, UN agencies, displaced communities and local and international partners to provide urgently needed assistance.

People continue to leave Venezuela to escape violence, insecurity and threats as well as lack of food, medicine and essential services. With over 7 million Venezuelan refugees and migrants worldwide, this has become one of the largest displacement crises in the world.
