UNHCR's shelter relief boosted by Swiss helicopters
18 Jan 2005 UNHCR's shelter relief efforts in the Indonesian province of Aceh are now moving into top gear as the Swiss Super Puma helicopters fully swing into action today ferrying relief supplies, including tents, to the battered west coast of the province. The aim is to get people displaced by the Dec. 26 tsunami back into their own homes as soon as possible. -

Indonesia: UNHCR assists nearly 12,000 previously-undiscovered tsunami survivors
14 Jan 2005 UNHCR plans to take relief supplies as soon as possible to some 12,000 people it "discovered" in northern Sumatra whose homes had been destroyed by the Dec. 26 Indian Ocean tsunami. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka is slowly recovering from the tragedy, with many displaced people now leaving temporary accommodation centres. -
Major push underway to get UNHCR relief supplies to Aceh
12 Jan 2005 In a major push to get all UNHCR's 400 tonnes of relief supplies that were airlifted into Indonesia to the tsunami-stricken province of Aceh, the refugee agency is today using additional commercial charter flights and truck convoys from Jakarta to move supplies to Banda Aceh. Meanwhile in Geneva, it is not yet clear how much funding the refugee agency will receive for its tsunami emergency proposals from the US$738 million pledged at the Indian Ocean Flash Appeal late Tuesday. -
