UNHCR appeals for calm in refugee camps in Nepal
29 May 2007 The UN refugee agency is appealing for calm in refugee camps in eastern Nepal after two refugees died following clashes over the last two days. A camp curfew imposed by government authorities on Monday has now been lifted on four of the seven camps. UNHCR is reviewing its daily presence in the camps. -
Refugees must be free to choose own solution in Nepal, says Guterres
23 May 2007 On his first official visit to Nepal, High Commissioner António Guterres met with high-ranking government officials and with refugees originating from Bhutan to discuss recent resettlement plans and other alternatives. UNHCR is working to explore all possible options, but the ultimate decision lies with the refugees. -
