Remaining Sudanese detainees released in Cairo on Saturday
13 Feb 2006 The last 156 Sudanese remaining in detention since their protest in a Cairo park was broken up in late December were released by the Egyptian authorities on Saturday with a promise they would not be deported. Although not considered in need of international protection, the newly released Sudanese will be receiving one-off financial assistance from UNHCR to help them find accommodation. -
